Career
At the age of eight, Juliane joins the local ski club, where she finds her start in the biathlon. In 2012, she moves to the Oberhof ski school to combine school education and sports training opportunities. She competes in her first international biathlon race four years later at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, where she wins gold in sprint and silver with the mixed relay team. After graduating from high school in 2017, she moves to Mittenwald to train at the base. Beginning in the 2017/18 season, Juliane is a starting competitor in the IBU Cup. In 2019 she is runner-up in the individual set at the Junior World Cup in Osrblie. In the first year after her time as a junior, she trains in the B squad of the DSV. In the following season 2020/21 Juliane, after good performances in the IBU Cup, celebrates her first World Cup appearance in Östersund. Also in 2021/22 she gets several opportunities to compete in the World Cup.
First taste of the Olympics
In 2016, Juliane competes in her first international biathlon race at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, where she becomes Youth Olympic champion in sprint and wins the silver medal in the mixed relay.
German champion
In 2017, Juliane wins the gold medal with the relay team at the German Championships in Ruhpolding.
The first IBU Junior Cup season
In winter 2017, Juliane participates in the IBU Junior Cup race for the first time and, in her first season, clinches four top 10 placements.
First podium finish and first victory, successful Junior World and European Championships
In the IBU Junior Cup race in Prémanon, Juliane takes second place with the mixed relay team, securing her first podium finish. She also comes in second in the subsequent sprint. One day later, Juliane wins her first IBU Junior Cup race and, despite seven penalties, claims victory in pursuit. She becomes vice world champion in individual at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Brezno-Osrblie. These successes allow her to compete in the European Championships. She’s also successful in this year’s Junior European Championships in Sjusjøen. Juliane wins bronze with the mixed relay team and in sprint and secures the gold medal in pursuit.
Competition in the IBU Cup
Juliane is allowed to compete in the IBU Cup at the start of the season and takes seventh place in the season opener in Sjusjøen. At the Junior Cup in Bayerisch Eisenstein, she secures a position on the podium with second place.
World Cup debut
This season Juliane starts again regularly in the IBU Cup and takes part in the European Championships in Poland. After strong performances she earns her first start in the World Cup. At the season finale in Östersund, Sweden, she takes 62nd place in the sprint and thus just misses the subsequent pursuit race. This is how it can go on.
More World Cup appearances
After Juliane celebrated her World Cup debut in Östersund last year, she is in demand again at the season opener in the same place. She is also back on the World Cup circuit at the stopover in Antholz, Italy. During the rest of the season, Juliane competes in the IBU Cup and secures several top-10 finishes.
