Jenny Nowak Nordic Combined

Career

Jenny starts skiing at age six and emulates her great role model Eric Frenzel. As a child and during her youth, she trains in both disciplines of the Nordic combined (ski jumping and cross-country skiing). Even though the women’s Nordic combined is still in its infancy, she does not switch to special jumping. In 2015, she transfers to the elite school in Klingenthal so that she can train professionally and combine school and sport in the best possible way. Jenny is accepted into the junior squad of the German Ski Association, wins various competitions in junior series at national and international level and also secures the Youth Cup overall victory. Jenny’s development continues to increase dramatically – in 2020, she becomes junior world champion, competes for the first time in a women’s Nordic combined World Cup race and in 2021 takes part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in her home town of Oberstdorf.

2019/20 season

Jenny becomes junior world champion at home

In the 2019/20 season, Jenny competes in the Continental Cup. At the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Prémanon, France, she wins the bronze medal. However, the preparation is aimed at another highlight: The Junior World Championships at home in Oberwiesenthal. Here Jenny wins the individual competition with a lead of 45 seconds and secures the silver medal with the mixed team.

2020/21 season

One highlight after another

In the fall of 2020, Jenny becomes the first German champion in history in the Nordic combined. After this successful season opener, another first follows: The first Women’s Nordic Combined World Cup is held in Ramsau and Jenny is at the start and takes 13th place. In the same season she competes at a Nordic World Ski Championship for the first time. At the home World Championships in Oberstdorf she finishes in 18th place.

2021/22 season

First World Cup on the podium

In the 2021/22 season there are now more women’s World Cup events and Jenny is a regular starter. A highlight of the season is the mixed competition in Val di Fiemme, Italy. Together with Cindy Haasch, Terence Weber and Jakob Lange, Jenny climbs onto a World Cup podium for the first time and takes third place. At the Junior World Championships in March 2022 in Zakopane, she wins another gold medal together with her teammates in the mixed team.
