Working Together for Sustainability: VCS Employees Plant 1,200 Trees in Liesen
About 60 volunteers from the Viessmann Climate Solutions site in Allendorf (Eder) planted around 1,200 young trees, sending a clear message in support of environmental and climate protection. As a subsidiary of Carrier Global Corporation, the company participated in the tree-planting campaign as part of a global sustainability initiative.
Allendorf (Eder)/Hallenberg, Germany, March 30, 2026 – On Friday, March 27, approximately 60 volunteers from the Viessmann Climate Solutions site in Allendorf (Eder) planted around 1,200 young trees in a wooded area near Liesen, a district of the town of Hallenberg, thereby sending a clear message in support of environmental and climate protection. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, and participated in the tree-planting campaign as part of the company’s global sustainability initiative.
“I am very pleased that so many employees from Allendorf are volunteering their time,” said Thomas Heim, President of Carrier Climate Solutions Europe. “Our shared purpose at Carrier is to enhance people’s lives by treating the world we live in with respect. Initiatives like this—right here in the region—demonstrate in a very concrete way how we are living up to that purpose.”
Part of a global initiative – with a strong local focus
The tree-planting initiative in Liesen is part of Carrier’s global commitment to plant a total of five million trees by 2030. The program is supported by the Arbor Day Foundation, the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to tree planting. In addition to large-scale reforestation projects—including in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, on agricultural land in Kenya, and in the habitats of the monarch butterfly in Mexico—the company places special emphasis on local tree-planting initiatives near its sites.
For the initiative in Liesen, Carrier collaborated with the German partner of the Arbor Day Foundation, the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald Bundesverband e. V. The planting was also supervised by Antje Krohne-Riedesel, the forester responsible for the forest area.
Climate Partnership Meets Regional Engagement
A prominent guest particularly highlighted the connection between regional commitment and active partnership: Roy Makaay, the longtime legendary striker for FC Bayern Munich, personally joined the tree-planting event in the middle of the forest. “The climate partnership between Viessmann Climate Solutions and FC Bayern Munich thrives on joint action. I am particularly pleased to be able to advocate for greater sustainability here in the 'Sauerland'-region on behalf of FC Bayern Munich. Initiatives like this make a real difference,” said Roy Makaay. Of course, there was also plenty of time for conversations with the FCB legend, group photos, and – fitting for such a prominent guest – a brief soccer demonstration.
In addition to the sports celebrity, Hallenberg’s mayor, Enrico Eppner, was also in attendance, underscoring the close ties between the company, its workforce, and the region. “This tree-planting initiative combines a sense of global responsibility with local action,” emphasized Enrico Eppner. “Initiatives like this make an important contribution to our region and demonstrate how companies and local communities can take responsibility together.”
