Viessmann Climate Solutions is offering Kiwigrid access to its heat pumps and battery storage systems via EEBus
Viessmann Climate Solutions and Kiwigrid, a German technology provider specializing in intelligent energy management, will collaborate in the future to offer energy utilities additional opportunities to implement modern energy services. Both companies are committed to open interfaces, high security standards, and cross-vendor integration of various energy systems.
Allendorf (Eder)/Dresden, July 9, 2026 – Viessmann Climate Solutions provides integrated energy systems for heating, power and mobility, as well as its own energy management system. Kiwigrid brings many years of experience in connecting and marketing decentralized energy resources in the energy market. The companies have jointly announced the start of a partnership. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
The goal of the partnership is to provide additional opportunities for energy utilities to implement modern energy services. Both companies are committed to open interfaces, high security standards, and cross-vendor integration of various energy systems. The partnership complements existing solutions and creates further options for connecting decentralized energy resources in the energy market.
The market requires integration
The rapid expansion of solar energy is increasingly leading to an oversupply, negative electricity prices on the exchange, and grid strain. In 2025, approximately four percent of Germany’s electricity production had to be restricted. At the same time, policymakers are tightening the regulatory framework: Starting January 1, 2027, plant operators who do not actively participate in direct energy trading could lose their right to the legal feed-in tariff. Open, interconnected, and controllable decentralized energy resources are thus becoming even more of an economic necessity, and virtual power plants are emerging as a key technology.
This is exactly where Viessmann Climate Solutions and Kiwigrid are focusing their partnership. At the heart of the partnership is the Kiwigrid platform, KiwiOS, which allows devices from different providers to be integrated in a vendor-neutral manner and rolled out to end customers by utilities under their own brand. This allows Viessmann Climate Solutions’ decentralized heat pumps and energy storage systems to be integrated into Kiwigrid’s existing VPP (Virtual Power Plant) pool in collaboration with the utilities, thereby enabling the presentation of marketable flexibility resources.
Specific Goals of the Partnership
- Connectivity via EEBus: Viessmann Climate Solutions is one of the first manufacturers to fully integrate heat pumps and energy storage systems into the KiwiOS platform via EEBus, thereby meeting all the requirements for controllability.
- White-label ready from the start: Energy suppliers and installers can operate the platform entirely under their own brand, without any development effort on their part.
- Security as a Competitive Advantage: The platform is ISO 27001-certified, meets the requirements of NIS-2, and thus provides a robust regulatory foundation for the operation of critical energy infrastructure.
“With Kiwigrid, we are expanding the range of applications for our energy and climate solutions for energy utilities and creating additional options for selling flexibility. This partnership makes it possible to integrate networked energy systems even more closely into the energy market. As a result, energy suppliers benefit equally from both added value and future business models,” says Dr. Frank Voßloh, Managing Director at Viessmann Deutschland GmbH.
“The market doesn’t need more siloed solutions; it needs an open platform that truly brings together hardware, software, and commercialization infrastructure. That’s exactly what we’re delivering together with Viessmann Climate Solutions: Energy providers receive a VPP-ready solution that they can roll out under their own brand—one that’s secure, scalable, and future-proof from a regulatory standpoint,” adds Dr.-Ing. Carsten Bether, Managing Director at Kiwigrid GmbH.
