Innovative and Space-Saving Hybrid Heating Systems with High Efficiency
Viessmann offers a proven hybrid combination of an environmentally friendly heat pump to cover the base load and a gas condensing boiler for the less frequently needed peak load. Vitodens 300 and Vitodens 200 gas condensing wall-mounted units are easily connected via the CAN-Bus cable to a One Base heat pump Vitocal 150-A(H), Vitocal 250-A(H), Vitocal 250-S(H), or Vitocal 200-S.

- Air/Water Heat Pump Vitocal 150-AH: Efficient heating solutions for the price-sensitive market
Allendorf (Eder), May 12, 2025 – Since January 1, 2024, the Building Energy Act (GEG) mandates that newly installed heating systems must operate with at least 65% renewable energy. Viessmann Climate Solutions meets this requirement with hybrid heating systems that combine various energy sources. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
Viessmann hybrid heating systems are recommended or required when:
- Switching to entirely renewable energy is not possible or where a gradual transition to renewable energy is being considered.
- Existing heating systems should continue to be used, but a sustainable addition of renewable energy is needed or desired.
Hybrid Solutions – Economical and Space-Saving
Viessmann offers a proven hybrid combination of an environmentally friendly heat pump to cover the base load and a gas condensing boiler for the less frequently needed peak load. Vitodens 300 and Vitodens 200 gas condensing wall-mounted units are easily connected via the CAN-Bus cable to a One Base heat pump Vitocal 150-A(H), Vitocal 250-A(H), Vitocal 250-S(H), or Vitocal 200-S. While additional modules, a hydraulic separator, and temperature sensors between the units were previously required, now only the CAN-Bus cable and a simple hydraulic separator, which can be mounted directly on the gas condensing wall unit, are needed. This hybrid system solution is quickly installed and ready for operation.
GEG-Compliant Thanks to High-Efficiency Insulation
On the device side, only the newly developed pipe separator needs to be installed beneath the condensing boiler. To meet the requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG), the hydraulic pipe separator is insulated with a high-efficiency EPP insulation shell to prevent heat loss. The Vitodens boiler can be mounted either to the left or right of the Vitocal indoor unit. An environmentally friendly cardboard drilling template simplifies the transfer of drilling dimensions for installation, saving valuable time.
Smart Energy Management with Hybrid Pro Control
Hybrid Pro Control is an integrated energy manager that regulates the heating system based on outside or flow temperature as well as individual settings. Factors such as energy prices, self-generated electricity, CO2 emissions, or heat demand can play a role in this. The user can decide whether the energy system should automatically use the currently most cost-effective energy source in Eco mode or operate in Eco mode with the lowest CO2 emissions per kilowatt-hour of generated heat energy.
Compatible with Viessmann One Base
Vitodens devices from April 2019 onward can be retrofitted to the new system by replacing the Heat Management Unit (HMU), control panel, and Wi-Fi module. After the update, the hybrid system is compatible with the new control functions. The system can be conveniently controlled using the ViCare app. After online activation via ViGuide, the professional partner can always monitor the energy system and immediately identify any malfunction. In many cases, parameters can be corrected online.
Air/Water Heat Pump Vitocal 150-AH: Efficient Heating Solutions for the Price Sensitive Market
In the price-sensitive heat pump market, the Air/Water Heat Pump Vitocal 150-AH offers an excellent price-performance ratio. The monoblock models provide 2.1 to 13.4 kW of output. The heating device uses the natural refrigerant R290 (propane) and achieves a flow temperature of 70°C.
Vitocal 150-AH as an Addition to a Hot Water Storage Tank
Optionally available with or without a hot water storage tank, the Vitocal 150-AH is recommended as an addition to an existing heating system. It covers the base load, while the heating boiler is only used during low temperatures. In the warmer months, the active cooling function ensures pleasant room temperatures.
Eco Select – Cost-Effective or Sustainable Heating
The Hybrid Pro Control energy manager regulates the heating system depending on outside or flow temperature, as well as individual settings. Energy prices, self-generated electricity from a PV system, CO2 emissions, or heat demand can play a role. The user can decide whether the energy system automatically uses the most cost-effective energy source in Eco mode or runs in Eco operation with the lowest CO2 emissions per kilowatt-hour of generated heat energy.
Viessmann One Base – Digital Control at Its Best
The Viessmann One Base electronics platform is the digital heart for controlling all connected energy systems from Viessmann via the ViCare app. If desired, the professional partner can take over the system monitoring via ViGuide. The already economical operation of the Vitocal 150-AH series is made even more efficient with self-generated electricity from a photovoltaic system.
