Viessmann Climate Solutions makes it easier for customers to access smart meters, thereby closing a key gap on the path to a fully integrated energy solution offering.
Allendorf (Eder)/Berlin, Germany, May 6, 2026 – Viessmann Climate Solutions continues to consistently expand its portfolio of climate and energy solutions and now offers easy access to smart metering systems, as well as the ability to contract power tariffs via the ViCare app. The goal is to enable end customers to make better use of dynamic power tariffs and to provide them with greater transparency and control over their own energy consumption. While optimizing self-generated electricity consumption is already standard practice today, the new solutions now make the smart use of dynamic electricity rates significantly more accessible to everyone. With Viessmann Energy Management, end customers can already optimize their power consumption based on usage patterns and weather data. As of summer 2025, price signals can also be incorporated into the Energy Management optimization process to minimize power costs. To sign up for a variable power rate, end customers must have an existing smart metering system. This is exactly where Viessmann Climate Solutions comes in. For many, the lack of a smart meter poses a challenge.Together with the competitive metering network operator metrify, Viessmann Climate Solutions simplifies access to smart meters, bridging a key gap on the path to a fully integrated energy solution offering.
More affordable power thanks to smart control
With the “Dynamic Assistant”*, Viessmann Climate Solutions offers an energy management solution that uses artificial intelligence to operate heat pumps, wallboxes, and/or energy storage systems when the price of electricity is particularly low. This saves costs and reduces the load on the power grid at the same time.

Easy access to the smart meter
The slow rollout of smart meters is a challenge for end customers in Germany. The partnership between Viessmann Climate Solutions and metrify creates the conditions for faster and easier access to smart meters. This significantly simplifies the transition to dynamic power tariffs and the resulting savings. It noticeably streamlines the path to greater cost control and flexibility in the energy market. Starting immediately, the companies are offering a joint service that simplifies the process of installing a smart meter in private homes:
- Quick installation: End customers can order the smart meter directly when purchasing a new Viessmann heat pump or energy storage system – depending on the specialist partner’s offering. Installation takes place within six weeks.
- Lower electricity costs: Access to dynamic electricity rates becomes possible. Reduced grid fees lower energy costs.
- Regulatory requirements: Smart meters and control boxes** complywith the legal requirements under Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG).
- This also applies to existing Viessmann customers: Smart meters can be retrofitted to existing Viessmann systems via the Smart Meter Service in the ViCare app.
Sign up for the right power rates through ViCare
With its open-tariff energy management system, Viessmann Climate Solutions takes a clear approach: maximum flexibility for end customers through compatibility with all variable-rate power providers, rather than a permanent commitment to a single rate plan.
End customers can now optionally find their variable electricity rate directly and conveniently via the Viessmann ViCare app and easily sign up with the energy provider.

*Paid subscription; the Dynamic Assistant can be tested free of charge for 6 months and is initially available only in Germany.
** Starting in Q3 2026, the control box will be installed as standard in the Viessmann solution portfolio and automatically integrated into all installations. EEBUS will be adopted as the standard for enabling controllability. For existing smart meter installations, the control box will be retrofitted free of charge by metrify. An annual fee of 99 euros applies for the smart meter, smart meter gateway, and control box.
